This unique antique billiard cuestick rack came from the billiard room of the Penbroke Mansion on the North Shore of Long Island. This once glorious 60,000 square foot mansion had 12 bedrooms, 12 baths, a billiard room- of course, movie theatre (Mansion was once owned by Marcus Loew, of Metro Goldwyn Mayer fame) a mirrored breakfast room with what obviously was a breathtaking view of the Long Island Sound.
This item is made of Mahogany, measures 65 inches high, and 19 inches across. The beautiful stem is 48 inches long. What makes this unique is that most pool cuestick stands at the time had a thin, reed-like stem. This stem is rather stick- much more sturdy. It holds 14 cuesticks, so obviously Mr. Loew had many rich friends over at one time. There is no brand name on this item, but it was part of a collection of Brunswick brand items.
This item weighs about 30 to 40 pounds. The top base has a small crack (as seen in one of the pictures) and the bottom base has very tiny white paint speckles, that a professional antique restorer can probably remove. Also, part of the rim of the bottom base is chipping off- as seen in photograph.
Can be picked up. It is in Nassau County, Long Island, waiting for a new home. Can either be shipped or delivered by myself (if you are 300 miles or less from New York City) . Shipping/delivery fee would be 0. over the sale price
